The other day we thought we’d try 300 Acres restaurant situated in the Wembley Golf Course. A restaurant in a golf course hmmm? I’d been introduced to this hidden gem by a friend so I knew they were in for a pleasant, relaxing surprise.
The beef cheeks were a hit with someone who has a lot of experience with said delicacies. The confit garlic mash and broccolini another favourite combination. See opening photo.
The salt and pepper squid was on the ‘small meals’ menu. It was anything but. The squid was lightly dusted rather then swamped by batter. The Asian slaw was crisp and with a fresh tangy dressing, not a standard coleslaw sludge. The charred pineapple was a refreshing edition and the peanuts added a nice crunch.
One member of our party had special dietary needs. The restaurant staff were happy to accommodate. Hence the coconut curry sauce, sweet potato and puffed quinoa and were taken off the fish meal. The result grilled barramundi, chips and one very satisfied customer.
The service was casual and on the right side of friendly. The prices very reasonable at the mid 20’s
The restaurant looks out over a children’s play area (handy for parents) and the course. Several water features added to the ambiance, although I’m not sure the players would feel the same way about them if they miss shot.
As we wandered back to the car I pondered:
- The small meals are plenty, especially for lunch or if you fancy a dessert;
- Go during the weekend to enjoy the serenity;
- I will definitely be back for the squid another time.
We had such a relaxing time I only took one photo of the venue, well it was new years day.
