Kevin James shows there’s more to him than playing a bafoon, in his latest movie Solo Mio.

Matt Taylor (Kevin James) is on a roll. He’s living his best life and his perfect partner has just said yes to his heartfelt marriage proposal. The fact the wedding will take place in Italy may have had something to do with it.
The big day starts smoothly, the church is full and Matt is ready to turn and see his bride walk down the aisle, but when he looks the runway is empty.
After a frantic search around the area and a mountain of phone calls his bride final replies declaring she needs space.
As Matt prepares to wait for her return he’s persuaded to go on the nonrefundable honeymoon package.
Along the way he makes friends with two couples on the same honeymoon packages plus some well-meaning locals. As the adventure continues Matt starts to reassess his life. Will his bride return and will he be the same man when she does?
As the credits rolled, I pondered:
- The movie explores the notion that sometimes when all appears lost, something bigger is around the corner;
- There were some fun moments, especially about being single in a couples world;
- The appearance of Andrea Bocelli was an added bonus;
- The movie would be a good first date movie and proves that James can play against type.
